Relationships can be rewarding. And, at the same time, couples struggle.

Whether you’re preparing for marriage, adjusting to an addition or loss in the family, bored with the rut in which you and your partner find yourselves, or adjusting to an “empty nest,” couples therapy has something to offer you.

Couples therapy aims to help each person learn how to manage the stress and tension they are experiencing in the relationship so that each can “show up” in a way that enables them to be heard and seen by their significant other.

There is a fair amount of paying attention to one’s self in couples work. Messages like, “I’m not lovable” or “I’m not safe” prevent us taking risks to share transparently, love intimately, and practice vulnerability. Fear keeps us stuck instead of daring to believe that we have a right to ask for what we want and need.

Blending sensitivity and compassion, I successfully work with couples to navigate their way towards a deeper understanding of each other by meeting you where you are at. As a certified Marriage and Family Therapist, I work in partnership with you to explore obstacles that keep you stuck, build on the strengths you already possess, and hone new skills that enable you to be in the relationship you want and deserve.

As an LGBTQ ally I recognize and honor the importance of all relationships.
